Towards the end of June, we covered claims from France that West Ham United have made an offer higher than €20m to sign FC Metz star Georges Mikautadze. It was also suggested the Premier League side’s proposal could be accepted.

The striker managed 14 goals and four assists from 31 games for the Ligue 1 side last season. He also impressed for Georgia at the Euros, scoring three goals and registering an assist from four matches.

This hasn’t gone unnoticed as AS Roma have now joined West Ham and AS Monaco in the chase for the 23-year-old. That’s according to Le10 Sport, who share the latest on the Hammers pursuit.

The Georgia international received the highest bid from Julen Lopetegui’s side, that one at over €20m. The report claims Metz are looking around €25m to cash in from his sale this summer.

West Ham have failed to qualify for Europe after finishing ninth last season. The report says this hasn’t attracted the attacker, who favours a move to a club who can offer him European football. Therefore, the London club are ‘out of the race’.

The battle is now between the Serie A side and Monaco for the player’s signature. West Ham will have to convince Mikautadze to change his stance if they hope to sign him.
