It’s time for the Portuguese media to have a say on West Ham United’s interest in Arsenal fullback Nuno Tavares.

Newspaper A Bola today reports that the Hammers placed a bid to sign the 23-year-old this summer.

It’s said that despite Tavares’ currently loan from Arsenal to Olympique Marseille, he’s not staying in France. Mikel Arteta doesn’t count on him either, and that’s why West Ham are working to get him.

According to A Bola, the Gunners are still to set a price for the fullback’s permanent exit, although they want to, at least, recover the €8m spent to sign him from Benfica in 2021.

The Portuguese outlet even dismisses claims from the French media regarding Tavares’ potential stay in Marseille.

Despite reports talking about manager Igor Tudor’s irritation with the player’s lack of effort, A Bola says the reason he isn’t staying is financial, as the Ligue 1 side would have to make additional payments to Arsenal.

Either way, West Ham’s interest now gets confirmed by the player’s home country’s press, and we now wait to see if the Hammers’ bid will be successful.
