West Ham have made ‘request’ over young goalkeeper – Would be a summer move

West Ham’s goalkeeper woes have been very clear this season.

Roberto was a poor signing, unable to provide the cover for Łukasz Fabiański which was needed after the Polish stopper picked up an injury.

Last week, Manuel Pellegrini spoke to the media in Chile about his time with the Hammers and exit from the club. The manager explained he feels poor performances from Roberto were at least one of the reasons behind West Ham looking for a new manager.

David Moyes has since taken over, and Darren Randolph has been brought back to the club from Middlesbrough, but there’s still a weakness in the goalkeeping options.

It’s likely something the club will look to solve long term, and one way of doing so would be to sign a young goalkeeper who can grow and then provide adequate support, and eventually competition, to Fabianski.

On that note, Italy’s Calciomercato report West Ham have made a ‘request’ for Filip Stankovic, a 17 year old at Inter Milan. The Hammers are ‘following’ the player, but Inter would prefer he stays with them.

Any move would now be for the summer, and the player’s own desire, and how he sees his career progressing, will likely play a big role.
