If you look at West Ham United’s squad, it’s clear that the midfield might need some fine tuning in the future.
After all, Mark Noble isn’t going to be around forever, while both Thomas Soucek and Declan Rice cannot play every game.
Alex Kral has helped out when needed, but with the England international also a target for richer clubs, there might be a need to bring someone in in the summer.
One of the targets that appears to be emerging of late is Mattias Svanberg, with an increase in reports that West Ham are looking at the Sweden international.
With three goals and two assists in 29 league games for Bologna, the 23-year-old is having a good season in Italy, which has caught the eye of a few clubs.
West Ham are among them, with Corriere dello Sport explaining they are one of the sides to have ‘made an enquiry’ for Svanberg.
As things stand, the Serie A side have set a ‘high’ price for their star, something they aren’t afraid to do with important players.
They did the same last summer when Arsenal wanted Takehiro Tomiyasu, but it’s pointed out Svanberg ‘could be the goodbye man in July’, with his funds allowing his current club to have money to spend on the transfer market.
Something to keep an eye on, as we edge closer towards the end of the season and plans for the next commence to take shape.
