Earlier this week it was claimed Everton are interested in Domagoj Vida. The Croatian defender currently plays for Dynamo Kyiv and his contract runs until June 2018.

There were no claims that an offer was on the way from Everton, and the situation wasn’t hyped, but Ronald Koeman was said to hold an interest in the player.

A few days later The Mirror claimed Everton, Stoke City, Sunderland and West Ham are all keen. Stoke have been linked at various points in recent years and sometimes seem to be tagged on to the list for little reason. Sunderland made an attempt to sign Vida in the last summer window but didn’t want to pay more than £6m so were unsuccessful. Given that, and the strong likelihood of relegation, they can be dismissed from the list.

West Ham is probably the more interesting option, along with Everton. Both big Premier League clubs, Vida could be tempted to make the move to England. Again, nothing seems imminent on the interest of Everton or West Ham, and there’s no panic in the Ukraine media about a potential exit.

Dynamo Kyiv will want to make a decision on the player’s future this summer. Given the 27 year old’s contract expires in June 2018, the Ukraine club either need to achieve a renewal, or sell. It’s at that stage that Everton, West Ham and others could be able to get a cheaper fee than otherwise.
