West Ham United are showing an interest in Genoa midfielder Diego Laxalt, according to reports in the Italian media. The Uruguayan was linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer following confirmation from his agent Leicester City wanted to sign him.
TMW have today reported West Ham could look to move in on Laxalt in the summer, along with Serie A side Fiorentina. The South American has been in impressive form this season under Genoa coach Ivan Juric, but this has brought him to the attention of other clubs, including the East London side.
With Dmitri Payet leaving West Ham in the last window Slaven Bilic could look to bring in a creative player in the summer, and the attacking midfielder is an option. It’s been claimed the 24-year-old would welcome a move to the Premier League after previously being linked with Leicester City.
During the last summer window we covered comments made by Laxalt’s agent when he revealed Leicester City wanted to sign his client. At the time Leicester City were monitoring the situation with the player, but an offer never arrived from the Premier League champions.
Laxalt arrived in Italy in 2013 when Inter Milan bought the midfielder from Defensor Sporting. However, the South American didn’t play a game for the San Siro club, and after loan spells with the likes of Bologna and Empoli he joined Genoa.
