Surprisingly one of Belgium’s best players at the Euros so far, especially considering his lack of game time at Barcelona, Thomas Vermaelen could be returning to the Premier League.

The centre-back, who left Arsenal for the Spanish giants after an injury riddled season with the Premier League side, failed to make his way into the first-team, and is now looking for regular football.

According to Sport on Monday, multiple clubs across Europe, including the likes of Inter Milan and Roma, have enquired about his services, but it’s West Ham who are in the lead.

The Catalan newspaper claims the offer made by Slaven Bilic’s side is by far the best one on the table for the Belgian, while Liverpool, who had made contact about a potential move, have gone cold on him.

If he is to leave, Barcelona would be looking for it to be a permanent move, with the Spanish side looking to get at least €10m (£8.3m) out of it.

Having bought him for around £15m and considering he’s already 30, such a fee would be a good deal for the La Liga champions, who aren’t exactly flush with cash at this moment in time.

Perhaps a couple of other good performances with Belgium in the coming weeks will up that asking price a tiny bit more?
