Mohamed Simakan was supposed to be an AC Milan player right now. Throughout deadline day there were reports from France and Italy that the 20-year-old was closing in on a huge move.

He would have swapped Strasbourg for the Serie A giants, and at one point the deal looked close to happening. However, the transfer window in Italy closed at 8pm and no agreement had been reached by that point.

L’Equipe report Milan made a last offer of €17m including bonuses, and West Ham have now done the same. The Hammers have until 11pm to get a deal done, but it looks like they’re going to struggle.

According to the French newspaper, Strasbourg have already rejected the offer, with the club looking for €20m to part ways with the defender. Now West Ham have to decide very quickly indeed whether they’re going to increase their bid and try and get a deal done before the window closes.
