Still somehow in need of a striker despite their excellent results, West Ham have turned their attention to Giovanni Simeone.
That news has been around for some time now, although L’Arena on Monday push it some more, relayed by TuttoHellasVerona, explaining the Hammers are interested in two players from Hellas Verona, including the Argentine.
The second is Antonin Barak, the club’s Czech attacking midfielder, who already has four goals and two assists in 12 appearances for the overachieving Serie A side, who currently sit 10th in the table.
Simeone, down his end, has nine goals to his name, and has been the ‘protagonist of an excellent start to the season’.
As for the price for the pair, it would be at least €40m, since Verona have the option to buy the striker for €12m from Cagliari (he’s currently on loan), and they would want to make a profit on him, while Barak would cost at least €25m.
That’s money the Hammers likely have, and with a busy second half of the season ahead of them, two extra bodies in David Moyes’s squad could go a long way.
