West Ham United have been linked with Oguzhan Ozyakup since 2015, with the stories popping up every now and again since then. It was claimed last summer that West Ham have a continued interest in the Besiktas star, and there may well be a good basis for that.
Slaven Bilic managed the player at Besiktas and now 24 years of age, Ozyakup has grown as a player. It would be no surprise if Bilic is considering the midfielder for West Ham.
The Premier League club had an official at Thursday night’s Europa League match between Besiktas and Olympiaco,s according to Gazzetta, and Ozyakup is put forward as a suggested target.
Ozyakup is a versatile midfielder who has been impressing for Besiktas in a defensive midfield role this season. The Turkey international spent several years in Arsenal’s youth system so if Bilic does sign him for West Ham the move to London wouldn’t take much getting used to.
West Ham have also been linked with Ozyakup’s teammate Atiba Hutchinson, with Bilib confirming his interest in the player. Hutchinson also operates in a defensive midfield role for Besiktas, but at 34 years of age the chances of a West Ham transfer may now be slim.
