Earlier this week, Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola came up with the news that West Ham United are interested in the signing of Lyon midfielder Thiago Mendes.
Mostly focused on Flamengo’s plans to land the player, the report pointed out that the Hammers would have an advantage in this race, as they could offer the 30-year-old more money, besides the chance of playing in the Premier League.
Nicola has now featured another story about this pursuit on his Yahoo blog, and this time, he brought a few more details on West Ham’s interest.
It’s claimed that the Hammers’ chase has to do with their matches against Lyon in the Europa League.
There, Thiago Mendes’ performances drew West Ham’s attention, and now the club ‘intend to make a bid’ for him.
The report still doesn’t say how much Lyon want for the transfer.
It only points out that since there’s one year left in the player’s contract, the French side may not wish to risk losing him for free.
