Former West Ham player Paolo Di Canio has been speaking to Tuttosport about the Premier League and the Italian newspaper were keen to ask some questions about Antonio Conte and just why the manager is doing so well with Chelsea.
Conte’s side are currently 5 points clear at the top of the Premier League, 8 points ahead of fifth placed Arsenal. Di Canio believes that Arsenal failing to hit the heights regularly enough is helping Conte, in a season where he thinks other sides were expected to falter.
Di Canio explained: “He’s exploited the weaknesses of the other big clubs, reorganisation and summer revolutions of Manchester City once again, and United; the inconsistency of Arsenal, as always.”
This was again a season which looked like it could be Arsenal’s, as other teams had changes in manager and started their projects.
Arsene Wenger could well still win the Premier League, ruin Conte’s Chelsea dream, and make West Ham icon Di Canio eat his words, but it’s not looking that way at the moment.
Di Canio believes that Conte has had such a quick impact because he treats the group as a whole and has managed to get everyone behind him quickly, so they can then learn his tactics with enthusiasm.
