West Ham United are eying up a move Napoli forward Hirving Lozano, with David Moyes keen to add both a winger and a centre forward to his squad.
That’s according to Arena Napoli, who say the Hammers have identified the Mexican as a possible signing this summer.
The website explains that, despite waiting to see if the current Premier League season will be concluded at some point, West Ham are ‘laying the foundations’ for the future.
They are ‘probing’ several objectives as they look to reinforce David Moyes’ squad with recruits this summer.
They are particularly keen on adding a winger and a centre forward to their squad and as such have been in contact with ‘market operators’ to discover who may be available.
One of the names ‘under consideration’ is that of Lozano, who has been heavily linked with a move away from Napoli after a difficult first season at the club.
Reports have indicated that the record signing isn’t in Gennaro Gattuso’s plans and as such will be allowed to leave if Napoli can recoup what they paid for him.
That’s attracted West Ham, who reportedly have a budget of €30m to find the player they’re looking for.
Such a fee could ‘entice’ Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis into a sale were it put on the table, given that Lozano’s price has reduced this season and spending power around Europe will be limited this summer given the financial impact of COVID-19.
As yet, it seems West Ham haven’t made a move, they only have Lozano on their list, but it would not be surprising to see more of this rumour in the coming days and weeks.
