West Ham United have been handed a second chance to sign Martin Braithwaite from Barcelona, with the Catalans determined to sell the Danish star this summer.
That’s according to AS, who say it is ‘a necessity’ for the club to move the forward on in this transfer window.
They explain that Braithwaite let the European Championship following Denmark’s defeat by England in the semi-final yesterday with ‘his head held high’.
His performances in the tournament have been good for Barcelona because Braithwaite has proved to be a ‘useful player’ and ‘improved his reputation’ at the same time.
They’re confident they can get a sale with the arrival of Sergio Aguero and Memphis Depay, meaning that they ‘do not count on him’ next season.
The hope is they can get money for a transfer, and that is where West Ham come into the mix, with them having been interested in several years.
Indeed, last season Braithwaite was ‘close to leaving’ for the London Stadium, but the deal ‘fell through at the last minute’.
Now an exit is seen as a ‘necessity’ at the Nou Camp, meaning West Ham have the perfect opportunity to secure themselves a deal.
If they can will depend on Braithwaite, who, for the moment, is yet to make a decision and is instead heading on his holidays after what can be considered a successful tournament for him and his country.
