West Ham United could be given their chance to sign striker Sasa Kalajdzic this summer, with a €20m price tag on the cards.
That’s according to Fussball Transfers, who say the striker ‘will probably not continue’ in Germany beyond the current season.
Kalajdzic has been a big hit with VfB Stuttgart since his arrival from Admira Wacker in a £1.58m deal in July 2019.
He’s scored 21 goals and registered nine assists in that time, hardly inspiring numbers but enough to have earned him attention around Europe.
West Ham have long been linked with an interest, with it reported in March last year they were looking at him as a replacement for Sebastien Haller.
They’ve been named as suitors on several occasions since then, with it even stated earlier this month that their interest ‘has not waned’.
It seems they will now be presented with a chance to get their man, with Fussball Transfers reporting that he will probably not continue ‘beyond the summer’.
His contract expires in 2023, and so far, there has been no progress on a new deal, meaning it’s ‘sell or extend’ for VfB.
Sven Mislintat would like to keep him and has made an offer to make that happen, but Kalajdzic ‘has not accepted’, and that ‘is unlikely to change’.
According to FT’s information, he is being ‘highly sought-after’ by clubs from the Premier League and Serie A.
While West Ham aren’t named specifically, their interest has been well established, though, and there’s an asking price here too, with it stated that a fee of €20m is ‘in the room’ as a possible transfer fee.
That’s a figure we’ve seen before, so is not surprising, but the tone is certainly turning in Germany, with Kalajdzic apparently on the way out and the Hammers having a better chance than ever to get their man.
