It appears that West Ham United, after weeks of trying to get Torino to pay €13m for Nikola Vlasic, are finally softening their stance.
That’s according to Tuttosport, who have the latest information on the topic, who give good news to their readers and fans of the Hammers who want the Croatian midfielder to leave the club.
The player never convinced David Moyes after West Ham signed him from CSKA Moscow, and therefore was sent on loan to the Serie A side last season with an option to buy.
Despite a good start, he waned after the World Cup, which led to the Italians trying to lower the price, which the Hammers were refusing to do.
The player has since returned to the Premier League side, but a report last week suggested he had a rant at Moyes and Tim Steidten about his situation, which may have unlocked the situation.
Tuttosport claim that now ‘something is moving, for the first time’ in a while on the Vlasic front.
Steidten is said to have told Torino that they are ‘willing to listen’ to what they have to offer, meaning Davide Vagnati, the Serie A side’s director of football’ has a ‘dialectical channel open again’.
It remains to be seen how much freedom the transfer man is given by the owner, Urbano Cairo, and whether the new offer will be higher than the previously rejected one of €9m.
This is seen as an ‘unprecedented opening’ by West Ham in what was thought to be a lost cause, and over in Turin, they see this as an ‘assist’ on behalf of the Premier League side.
Now, we just have to wait and see whether they can put the ball in the back of the net.
