When Sofiane Feghouli was announced as West Ham’s new signing on a free from Valencia, many thought the signing of the Algerian winger would be one of the coups of the season.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case, as injuries and lack of game time have caused him to warm the bench more often than not, and it’s causing a lot of worry back home.
The forward has been, for some time now, an integral part of the Algerian national team, to the extent where his anger with the country’s former manager allegedly played a big part in Milan Rajevac’s dismissal following the 1-1 draw against Cameroon.
The player was introduced late into the game due to lack of match fitness, and this has led L’Expression in Algeria to explain that, with an important World Cup qualifier against Nigeria coming up, things need to change.
The fact that their talisman has only play 312 minutes of club football so far isn’t good enough, and with West Ham struggling at the moment, Slaven Bilic doesn’t seem ready to take a gamble on an unfit player.
We’ll see how things change over the coming weeks, but if something doesn’t happen soon, he could end up being dropped, especially with a new manager coming in.
