Sunday’s edition of Sport talks up transfer interest in Guillermo Maripan, and West Ham United get themselves a mention.
Maripan, a 24 year old central defender, is getting a lot of attention due to having a good season with Alaves.
Sport say both West Ham and AS Roma ‘follow the track closely’, and it’s thought the player could be leaving La Liga in the summer transfer market.
Alaves are said to want €25m which sounds a reasonable enough fee given where transfer prices currently stand.
However, it must be noted that these claims first surfaced in England and then made their way to Chile.
With Maripan being a Chile international and Manuel Pellegrini being from the country, claimed West Ham interest created waves in the country’s media.
It all led to Alaves’ sporting director Sergio Fernandez being questioned last week and he denied there’d been any offers or contact from West Ham or anyone else.
