Dear West Ham fans, remember that time when your club absolutely wanted then Celta Vigo striker Maxi Gomez but never managed to get a deal done?
The Uruguayan eventually ended up at Valencia, where he remains to this day, and going the other way that same summer was Santi Mina on a free transfer.
The forward has since settled in nicely in Vigo, exemplified by his great season for the La Liga side this time around, scoring 12 goals and assisting another four in 33 league games.
His form hasn’t gone unnoticed around Europe, with three clubs now reportedly keen on his services this summer, and one of them is West Ham.
This is according to Fichajes.net, who report the Hammers are hovering alongside AS Monaco in France and Lazio in Italy.
While Vigo will undoubtedly want to keep Mina if they can, it’s staled they have ‘assessed’ a price of around €15m as enough to convince them to part ways with him.
We’ll have to wait and see if West Ham pull the trigger, but he’s a player they could turn to to bolster their attack over the summer, it seems.
