It’s got to be considered very unlikely the Premier League club would have any success, but  Correio de Manha expects them to ‘return to the charge’ for William Carvalho in the January window.

Sporting are having a more optimistic season, and the Portuguese newspaper insists manager Jorge Jesus is happy with the work of president Bruno de Carvalho. Not too many players have been sold, some have come in, and Jesus feels backed.

But the manager still wants to see if there’s reinforcements in the January window, and obviously to avoid losing any of his best players. For Correio de Manha, that brings to mind William Carvalho and West Ham interest.

David Moyes was linked with Carvalho at Manchester United, so the manager’s interest goes even further back than the club’s.

With a World Cup on the horizon it’s got to be considered unlikely that Carvalho would fight for a January exit, and Sporting would surely rather keep the player until the summer.

Anything is possible, but this one seems an outside bet for West Ham.
