Bought for £45m after some great performances for Eintracht Frankfurt, Sébastien Haller was meant to finally be the high profile striker to guide West Ham to new heights.

However, the expectations placed on the now Ivory Coast international were never met, and the target man will be sold a year and a half later for a loss.

Ajax Amsterdam are the recipients of his services, paying €22.5m (£20.3m), according to RMC Sport’s Loïc Tanzi, which should represent a new transfer record for them (the current holder is David Neres on £19.8m).

Haller shouldn’t have too many issues adapting to the Eredivisie, having spent two and a half years at FC Utrecht prior to his move to Frankfurt.

The RMC Sport journalist adds the striker will sign a four and a half year deal with the Dutch club, with the deal now ‘done’.

During his time at West Ham, Haller scored 14 goals and assisted another three in 53 appearances in all competitions.

In comparison, he bagged 15 and assisted nine in 29 games in the Bundesliga alone in his final season for Eintracht Frankfurt.
