West Ham looked to have failed in their efforts to sign Youssef En-Nesyri from Sevilla, but there are still claims coming from Spain about the efforts the English club have made.
ElDesmarque report, according to their own information, that the Hammers proposed a salary worth £50k per week after tax. It’s believed that would have put the forward among the highest earners at the Premier League side.
At that time negotiations were ongoing with Sevilla, and ElDesmarque say the talks were ‘fluent’, which certainly makes it sound like the La Liga club were tempted.
However, En-Nesyri then made his club aware that he wasn’t interested in a move and instead keen to continue the rest of the season where he is. The report says that despite an offer which is described as life-changing, the 23-year-old believed it would be best for his career to continue being an important player at Sevilla.
The player’s agent has already said he advised against the move, and Julen Lopetegui, Sevilla’s manager, has also spoken out and insisted En-Nesyri will be staying.
This one looks dead for the Hammers, yet there’s insistence in Spain that the effort was made and West Ham were certainly serious.
