With the news that Dimitri Payet is either likely to leave West Ham soon or spend some time getting to know the reserves after ‘vowing to never kick a football’ for the club again, hanging onto Sofiane Feghouli might be a necessity for the Hammers.
Following news the player had agreed terms with Roma, all that was left was for the two clubs to reach an agreement, which looked promising on Wednesday.
However, Gazzetta claim on Thursday that West Ham are being a bit difficult about the whole thing.
The Serie A outfit were actually surprised when Slaven Bilic and co. allowed them to talk directly with the player, but West Ham’s reluctance to agree to a loan with an optional release clause is causing problems.
The Premier League side want the buy-out clause to be compulsory, but with time on their side, Roma feel they might be able to negotiate a buy-out-clause-based-on-the-amount-of-appearances loan next week.
West Ham are said to value Feghouli at €15m, which, considering they got him on a free in the summer, would be a tidy little profit for only paying his wages for six months (if the loan to Roma goes through).
Every cloud has a silver lining and all that…
