Fenerbahce are interested in signing Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame but the Super Lig club will face competition from West Ham United and Crystal Palace, reports Turkish newspaper Sabah.
In recent weeks we’ve covered claims from Greece that the Newcastle United player is a target for Olympiacos, and Sabah now reports the 31 year old is an option for Fenerbahce, along with West Ham and Crystal Palace
The Turkish side are looking to add a midfielder to their squad this summer and Diame’s contract situation makes him an ideal candidate.
Due to FFP regulations, Fenerbahce are looking to sign players who will become a free agent at the end of the season which will be the case with the Senegal intentional.
There’s still a chance Diame will continue his career in the Premier League with West Ham and Crystal Palace said to be interested. However, despite these links with the two Premier League clubs it’s claimed Fenerbahce are leading the race after making an offer with the player.
Diame has played 29 games in the Premier League for Rafael Benitez’s side this season.
