Barcelona’s Junior Firpo has been restricted to only one start each in the league and the Champions League this season.
West Ham United have long shown interest in the left-back and last weekend, reports from Italy stated the 24-year-old’s agent has offered his client to the Hammers and Napoli.
AC Milan are also looking at the defender, according to Sport on Wednesday.
Ronald Koeman doesn’t want to let go of the player in the winter market because Junior is the only recognised backup to Jordi Alaba in the squad.
Sergiño Dest can be used on the left side of the defence, while Sergi Roberto and Óscar Mingueza can also be deployed in the same position. However, the Dutchman is not in favour of ‘more inventions’, which is why he’d rather not lose Junior in January.
According to Sport, the Rossoneri have knocked on the Catalan club’s door for the fullback and they would like to take him on ‘loan and, in any case, agree to a purchase option at the end of the season.’
This option would only see Barca lower their wage bill, but not help to ‘obtain a relevant economic compensation’.
Milan’s proposition is attractive for Junior, who is also handling interest from the Hammers.
It’s claimed David Moyes’ side could table a ‘more attractive economic offer’ for Barca, but it will be of ‘less sporting significance’ for the left-back.
Milan will have to table a proposal that can tempt Barcelona to sanction the transfer this month. West Ham, on the other hand, will need to convince Junior to retain any hope of signing him.
