A week ago, we carried a report from Foot Mercato, who stated that Spezia Calcio’s Jakub Kiwior turned down West Ham United in the summer.

It was also explained the defender is edging towards moving to AC Milan for €18m plus bonuses.

Calciomercato have now dismissed this claim and state the player, who was ‘one step away’ from West Ham in the last window, has not received any offer from Milan.

That doesn’t mean the Serie A winners are not keeping tabs on the Poland international. According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the centre-back is one of the goals for the Rossoneri in the future markets.

It’s said Milan’s interest in the player is ‘confirmed’, but they are not alone and are joined by the Premier League sides… ‘not least West Ham’.

Although David Moyes’ side are still in the picture with other clubs for the 22-year-old, the Italian champions are currently ahead.

Spezia chief Eduardo Macia is set to receive approaches from elsewhere for Kiwior in the winter market. This will only increase if the defender manages to impress for Poland at the Qatar World Cup.

Having already failed to sign Kiwior in the last window, West Ham will have to make firm efforts if they wish to get ahead of Milan in the race for a January move.
