West Ham United currently have two deep-lying midfield options in Guido Rodriguez and Edson Alvarez.
Both have struggled to hit their top form under Julen Lopetegui so far this season.
West Ham are now being linked with another option, this time from Brazil.
Calciomercato.it have reported that the Hammers are one of the clubs interested in Evertton Araujo, who plies his trade with Brazilian club Flamengo.
The 21-year-old is said to be ‘in the sights’ of West Ham, along with the likes of Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Lille, AS Monaco and FC Porto.
Inter Milan and Atalanta have scouted him in person and clubs are said to be attracted by Araujo’s cheap release clause of €6m.
Flamengo are alarmed by interest from European sides and have made it clear to the midfielder’s entourage that they want to renew his contract.
The Brazilian’s current deal runs out on the 31st of December 2026. West Ham may need to get in there quickly to beat the competition.
