West Ham United are closing in on Palermo defender Ashraf Lazaar, according to claims in France. The Morocco international is expected to leave the Palermo side this summer due to his contract situation with the Serie A side.

France Football have revealed that despite Lazaar holding talks with Marseille in recent days the left back is keen to head to the Premier League, with West Ham leading the way for the player.

Lazaar’s contract with Palermo expires next summer, so the Sicilian side know they need to sell him in this transfer window to get a decent transfer fee for him.

Earlier this month we reported West Ham were keen to sign Lazaar even though Marseille and Sporting Lisbon have been taking an interest in the player.

Despite the East London side recently signing Arthur Masuaku, speculation linking with Lazaar arriving in England doesn’t seem to be going away.
