Relying fully on Michail Antonio to lead the line following the sale of Sébastien Haller to Ajax Amsterdam, West Ham United are still looking for another striker.
Paul Onuachu was among those being looked at, according to some reports, but it appears the Hammers might have found what they’re looking for in Denmark.
According to Jeunes Footeux, both West Ham and Newcastle United are ‘closely interested’ in Jonas Wind, currently under contract at FC Copenhagen.
The 22-year-old has been in fine form for his club over the past couple of seasons, and has eight goals in 18 games this campaign alone.
He also already has 12 caps for his country, having scored four goals, and many expect him to make the leap to a better league in the near future.
Whether that’s the Premier League with West Ham remains to be seen, but the website make it clear there is ‘little chance’ that Copenhagen ‘accept to negotiate below €20m’ for their star striker.
That’s certainly affordable for the Hammers, who will want to invest some money into their next goalscorer, and with one just 22 years of age and already prolific, they could have found their man.
However, if they do face competition from newly wealthy Newcastle, extra work might need to be put in to convince him to ignore the St James’ Park money.
