Fiorentina are closing in on West Ham United midfielder Pedro Obiang, according to claims in the Italian media. The Spaniard only joined the Premier League side last summer from Sampdoria, but has failed to make an impact since arriving in England.
Firenze Viola have revealed in the last hour that Fiorentina are serious about getting a deal done for Obiang before tonight’s transfer deadline. The Serie A side initially want to take Obiang on loan for the season with a right of redemption.
It’s been claimed West Ham will accept €5.5m to make the deal permanent after the loan spell. The next few hours are now likely to be decisive as to whether Obiang returns to Italy, 12 months after leaving. A decision will be made this afternoon on Obiang leaving the club.
Obiang signed for West Ham in the last summer transfer window, but started just 11 games in the Premier League in his debut season in England. AS Roma have also been linked with the player in the past week.
