Following the news that Lyon and Manchester United are currently in talks over the future of Memphis Depay, FootMercato have thrown yet another team into the mix: West Ham United.
Earlier on Thursday, Mohamed Bouhafsi reported Lyon had made a ‘concrete offer’ for the Dutchman, but that both clubs were some distance reaching an agreement, suggesting the bid was quite a way off the €17m Ed Woodward was trying to recoup.
Fast forward a couple of hours later, and FootMercato’s Khaled Karouri tweeted information from an English source claiming ‘it was hard to see Lyon paying what Manchester United were asking for’, as well as revealing that West Ham were also interested in Depay.

Joining a queue that is reported to consist of Everton, AS Roma and even Nice in France, West Ham’s interest, at this moment in time, makes the most sense.
With Dimitri Payet now making it clear he doesn’t want to stay at the London Stadium for much longer, Slaven Bilic is sore need of an alternative, one capable of both creating goals and scoring them.
While never quite making the cut at Manchester United, there is no denying the Dutch winger is a talented footballer, and with a team and a manager behind him who trust him entirely, he could achieve great things.
Having turned Dimitri Payet into a world-beater last season, there’s a small chance Bilic could do the same with Depay.
Most importantly, for Manchester United at least, West Ham also shouldn’t have too much trouble meeting the £15m asking price.
