There’s a new ‘jewel in the crown of Heliopolis (Betis’ stadium)’ and his name is Fabian Ruiz.

El Confidencial have an article this week explaining the rise of 21 year old Fabian, and how an increasing number of clubs, including West Ham, are keen on the player.

Betis would like to keep the midfielder around for much longer, but his €15m release clause is a clear problem for the Spanish club and there are continual hints a club could snatch Fabian away.

Barcelona are just one of the clubs interested, and Betis are trying to get Fabian to sign a new contract with a higher release clause. Up to now the problem has been the player’s agents not believing the balance between wages offered and level of clause is right.

Clubs from the Premier League are said to be watching Fabian, with West Ham one of those ‘very aware’ of the player’s talents. The youngster himself just wants to concentrate on his football and a transfer in the current window would be a surprise.

In recent days it’s been claimed in the English media that David Moyes has taken a personal interest in the possible West Ham transfer, and even travelled to watch him in action.

Should West Ham look to make a move they’ll almost certainly face strong competition.
