After a strong first year under Manuel Pellegrini last season, West Ham were keen to get plenty of business done this summer.
That is something they achieved as six new signings arrived at the London Stadium, with big money recruits such as Sébastien Haller and Pablo Fornals standing out.
Pellegrini was likely looking to do more business than that, though, and L’Equipe report they were showing an interest in Paris Saint Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa.
The French side made it clear to the left-back he could leave this summer as he’s currently down the pecking order at the club.
The Hammers are said to have enquired about the ‘conditions’ for a move, although no formal negotiations were ever opened.
And it would have made little sense had they done so. West Ham already have Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku at left-back, so it’s not a position they are weak in at this moment in time.
Perhaps if one of those players had moved on, which was not even rumoured this summer, they’d have pushed for Kurzawa. That never happened, though, so they never went further than an enquiry for the Frenchman.
