Andrea Belotti’s sensational form for Torino has allowed a few transfer rumours to pop up in recent days.
Last month, West Ham’s interest in the Italian forward was reported it Italy. It was claimed the London club made a €30m offer for Belotti before eventually signing Simone Zaza from Juventus.
Thursday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reiterate those claims, and add more information of their own.
Gazzetta say that before West Ham, Premier League champions Leicester City wanted Belotti to replace Jamie Vardy.
In the end, Vardy signed a new contract at the club and decided to stay, meaning Belotti interest ended.
The Italian forward has 8 goals and 3 assists to his name for Torino this season, and has also found the back of the net three times for Italy in 5 appearances.
The Turin club reportedly want to renew his existing deal to make him the highest earner at the club. However, Torino are also keen to add a release clause for foreign clubs, which is likely to be more than €50m.
