West Ham United and Nottingham Forest have both set their sights on German sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel, according to Bild.
The 49-year-old left Fortuna Düsseldorf in May 2020 and joined St Louis City SC in August of that year. Since his arrival in the US, he’s used his contacts to set up a competitive team and that’s helped them find a way into Major League Soccer this season.
St Louis City SC are currently leading the Western Conference table. ‘Many experts are surprised’ with Pfannenstiel’s work there and it has also caught the attention of West Ham and Nottingham Forest.
It’s claimed there is ‘great interest’ from the London club and the Tricky Trees to appoint the former Hoffenheim head scout as their new director. The Premier League duo are not alone as Torino are also interested in the MLS side’s chief.
Both West Ham and Nottingham Forest would have to convince Pfannenstiel to join them. That’s because Bild explain the German is not planning to leave the American side as he wants to continue to present his philosophy at St Louis City SC.
