On Monday, Sport Witness reported São Paulo’s Luizão is set to join West Ham United in January and has already signed a pre-contract agreement with the Premier League side.

It was also explained that other clubs showed interest in signing the defender, but the Hammers’ direct talks weighed in their favour.

West Ham, however, had not managed to find an agreement with São Paulo so far to have the centre-back before his contract expires on January 31st.

There seems to be progress made on this front if a report from UOL is to be believed. They explain David Moyes’ side ‘agreed’ a deal with São Paulo late on Monday to ‘hire’ the 20-year-old.

West Ham made an agreement with São Paulo that will see the latter be eligible to receive a percentage of a fee from a future sale.

The London club also have a deal in place with the player for a three-year contract, with an option to unilaterally extend it further by two more years.

It’s said Luizão will undergo West Ham medical in the coming days and then make himself available at Moyes’ disposal from January.
