West Bromwich Albion’s latest signing, Okay Yokuslu, has shared his thanks to former club Celta Vigo after his deadline day departure from the club.
Yokuslu completed a loan move to the Hawthorns yesterday, signing with Sam Allardyce’s side until the end of the season to aid their relegation battle.
His move brings an end to a two and a half year spell with Celta, who he joined from Trabzonspor for £5.4m in 2018 and made 72 appearances for the club over that period.
His loan spell with West Brom ends in the summer, but it has been widely reported that he will not be returning to the Spanish side, despite his contract at the club running until 2023.
“I have had beautiful and unforgettable moments during the time I have been here,” Estadio Deportivo report him saying.
“It has always been a pleasure to sweat and fight for the Celta jersey. Every time I was on the pitch, I have tried to do my best for the club.”
He also goes on to those who were by his side “in difficult and beautiful times” and insisted that he will always have the Vigo club in his “heart”.
That latter line certainly suggests Yokuslu won’t be returning to Spain; the question is now whether he’ll remain at the Hawthorns, with West Brom staying in the league likely to be key to that.
