The international break is often a time for player’s who aren’t getting their chances at club level to shine, and that has undoubtedly been the case for West Bromwich Albion’s Kamil Grosicki.
The Polish winger is yet to get his chance for the Baggies this year but still found himself a part of Poland’s squad for this week’s Nations League games.
It was an opportunity he’s taken with both hands, scoring a hattrick in the 5-1 win over Finland last week as well as featuring in the draw with Italy and win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
His performances have certainly earned him rave reviews in Poland, and even caused some to change their opinion of the West Brom man.
He writes that not long ago he felt Grosicki had no place for Poland, but after this international break, that opinion has changed dramatically.
‘A West Bromwich Albion player is needed by this team’, he argues, stating that Grosicki has performed his duties as captain ‘brilliantly’ during this break and shown how much being a part of the international set up means to him as well.
Mutka argues that Grosicki is a player who Poland’s young players can ‘learn a lot’ from, while he is also a good substitute to ‘cause panic’ against opponents, largely because he is a player who ‘gives his best’ regardless of his club situation.
Those are attributes Poland need, and thus Grosicki has turned himself into a player who has to be in Jerzy Brzęczek’s team.
The situation at West Brom is not great though, with Poland needing Grosicki getting plenty of game time if they are to get the best of him.
On that front, Mutka says that Polish fans need to ‘keep their fingers crossed’ that West Brom boss Slaven Bilic changes his mind and gives him a ‘serious chance’ in the Premier League.
Otherwise, a transfer to a club where Grosicki gets guaranteed gametime is something they need to ‘wish for’ with theme very much that Poland and their fans need the West Brom man’s situation to change drastically because he’s now very important to their hopes.
