It sounds very much like Benfica are getting a little annoyed with West Brom’s stance over Filip Krovinović. The newly promoted club want to keep the midfielder after having him on loan last season, and he’s keen to return to the Baggies.
However, Benfica aren’t happy with the proposals which have been put forward to them. One is a loan with West Brom then being obliged to sign the player permanently should they avoid relegation from the Premier League.
The Lisbon club believe this puts all the risk on their end, and gives all the potential benefits to West Brom. With a contract expiring in June 2022, should Benfica loan Krovinović out again, and then he returns in 2021 if Baggies are relegated, they would be receiving a devalued player.
Portuguese newspaper Record reports Benfica want €10m in a straight transfer, and it’s claimed West Brom are ‘trying to justify’ their stance by using the Covid-19 pandemic to say their finances aren’t great.
Benfica, knowing the money on offer in the Premier League, aren’t convinced. Should the situation drag on then it’s possible the Liga NOS club will look at other options, with there being claims of interest from elsewhere.
