West Brom midfielder Matheus Pereira was on the front page of Portuguese newspaper Record this Sunday.

Lisbon side Sporting continue to wait for the Baggies to pay the player’s permanent move, and it looks like the deadline has been changing a little in the past few weeks.

It’s been previously reported that the Championship club were supposed to trigger their buying option until the last day of May. Then on the last Saturday, Record said that due to the Coronavirus break, there was an agreement between clubs so the payment could be delayed for one month.

However, according to an update from the very same Record on Sunday, Sporting will have to wait a little longer until they can see that money.

Their front page story says Sporting are waiting for many clubs to settle their pending payments, and in West Brom’s case, they will hold until the English season is finished.

In other words, there’s no specific date for the Baggies to send the Lions the €9.5m for Pereira’s permanent move, which would be against Saturday’s reports.

That’s only part of the money that Sporting are waiting for, since other clubs such as owe them money, such as up to €16.5m for the transfer of Rafael Leão to AC Milan.
