West Bromwich Albion have been in talks with Malaga to sign Ignacio Camacho.
The club were thought to have agreed a fee of €15m plus €3m in bonuses for Camacho, and a deal seemed close.
However, there’s a major problem over the method of payment.
According to Marca on deadline day, Malaga want the entire payment at once, but West Brom have offered to pay in several lots and the first payment isn’t a significant part of the fee.
Marca say the president and owner of Malaga, Abdullah Al-Thani, is ‘tightening the rope’, and wants West Bromwich to deposit €18m.
The Premier League club already have an agreement with Camacho, who is hoping to travel to England for medical examinations.
West Brom have been linked with alternative targets over the past 24 hours, but €18m for Camacho is a pretty good price, even all in one go.
