With Matheus Pereira close to leaving West Bromwich Albion, we now get the latest updates from the Brazilian media on his move to Al Hilal.
The information comes from ESPN Brasil correspondent João Castelo Branco, who lives in England and covers the Premier League, claiming that the midfielder has already travelled for his medical.
The reporter writes that the 25-year-old ‘is on his way to Paris’ for the exams, and then will fly to Saudi Arabia and complete the move.
It’s claimed that the player found the offer ‘too good to refuse’ and sees the move as ‘an opportunity to secure the future of his whole family’.
The very same João Castelo Branco had previously reported that Pereira was being followed by four Premier League clubs.
It had been claimed that Aston Villa, Crystal Palace, Leeds United and West Ham United had all got interested in his signing, even though it were only the Elland Road side who still seemed strong in the race.
Now on his Twitter, the journalist made a few comments about the situation, claiming he understands why Pereira ended up choosing the transfer to Al Hilal.
“For those who enjoy football it is a shame to see Matheus Pereira go to Saudi Arabia. I’d like to see him play for a bigger club in the Premier League. He wanted it too. But the offer didn’t come and I understand it’s a profession. The player never knows how long his career will last.”
