West Brom may find a better scenario if they make another attempt to sign William Carvalho from Sporting CP in the next transfer window.
Last summer, the Baggies reportedly had a €30m offer for the midfielder rejected, and were told that only his €45m release clause would take him from the Portuguese club.
Sporting are constantly selling stars to European clubs, and in the last year, it was João Mário and Islam Slimani who left the Lisbon side to join Inter Milan and Leicester City. That’s why Carvalho couldn’t be sold in the same window.
And from the best rated players, which are Rui Patrício, William Carvalho, Gelson Martins and Adrién Silva, they would prefer to sell the West Brom target. A Bola specifically mention Tony Pulis’ side.
The negotiation would start from €35m, but it’s said the market is what will really dictate the midfielder’s price.
A Bola also brings the same old story saying William Carvalho has been linked to Manchester City after agreeing after taking Pere Guardiola as his agent, a story which we’re not buying.
On the list of clubs who have been involved in the speculation, they also include Newcastle United, although we couldn’t find any rumours linking him to the Magpies.
