After reports this week West Bromwich Albion have distanced themselves from signing Fenerbahçe’s Josef de Souza, the Turkish media claim the Premier League side are now looking to bring in Okay Yokuslu from Trabzonspor.

Haberturk say West Brom officials have opened the talks with Trabzonspor, and that they’ve offered €8m to sign the 23 year old midfielder.

Trabzonspor president Muharrem Usta has reportedly rejected the offer, with him paraphrased as saying: “Come back again at the end of the season.”

After confirming Alan Pardew as their new manager this week, it remains to be seen whether West Brom will be able to sign Yokuslu in the January transfer window, given the comments attributed to the Turkish side’s president.

Yokuslu has been one of the key players for Trabzonspor this season, and West Brom scouts have been regularly watching the player, report Haberturk. The defensive midfielder has a lot of potential, and has a good passing range.

The Turkish media aren’t going to let go of West Brom rumours so easily.
