According to a claim in the Austrian media, West Bromwich Albion are showing an interest in RB Salzburg defender Stefan Lainer.

The full back has impressed for the Austrian club in this season’s Europa League and this has brought him to the attention of other clubs, including West Brom.

Salzburg Nachrichten report West Brom have Lainer on their shortlist ahead of the summer window despite their relegation to the Championship this week.

The Baggies will be hoping to bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt and with the reports of players exiting, they’ll need replacements.

It’s also reported German sides FC Augsburg and Borussia Mönchengladbach are monitoring the situation with Lainer. These claims seem to have originated in the German media earlier his month.

Some of Lainer’s club teammates have been linked with moves to England in recent months, and RB Leipzig’s matches hare popular with scouts all over Europe.

The 25 year old joined RB Salzburg in 2015 and his performances for the club has brought him international recognition with the Austrian national team.
