West Brom’s scouting trip to watch Moses Simon play for Nigeria has been well covered, but the Belgian version of claims on the club’s interest flesh the story out somewhat.

Het Nieuwsblad explained that it wasn’t the only time West Brom plan to run the rule over the winger ahead of the summer transfer window, with the club watching his performances for Gent in Belgium’s play-offs.

The Jupiler League splits towards the end of the season, and Gent are in the top play-offs with five other teams who will all play each other twice, so there’s plenty of chances for West Brom to watch Simon.

Het Nieuwsblad say the club have already spoken to the player’s agent Tony Harris, someone said to have good connections with several English clubs.

That all sounds promising, but the Belgian newspaper also say it will be hoped West Brom interest can motivate 21 year old Simon to find the good form he showed at the start of his Gent career… 2 years ago.
