Starting in early December, the Premier League interest in Montpellier’s Morgan Sanson is picking up pace.
First came the news Bournemouth were scouting the young midfielder, then came an added interest from West Brom, despite Marseille being labeled as those in the lead to sign the Montpellier starlet.
Tony Pulis’ side were added a bit later than Eddie Howe’s to the proceedings, and France Football on Tuesday are reporting that both English sides remain interested in bringing the player to the Hawthorns and the Vitality Stadium respectively.
The 22-year-old has scored three goals and assisted his teammates seven times in 19 league games so far this season, and such impressive statistics have caught the eyes of other European clubs, notably Borussia Dortmund and Lyon.
However, it seems Marseille could trump everybody, including West Brom and Bournemouth, with France Football reporting a meeting is set to take place between the Ligue 1 side and the player’s representatives in the coming hours, even though a meeting on Tuesday has been ruled out by RMC’s Mohamed Bouhafsi.
Montpellier have made it clear they want at least €10m for a player who has only 18 months left on his contract, an amount easily matched by Premier League sides, even if clubs in other leagues might recoil at such demands.
If it solely comes down to money, though, we all know who will win this battle.
