Between the start of last season and the onset of the winter transfer window, there were a steady stream of rumours coming from Spain which linked Manchester City with Yerry Mina.
The 22 Colombian international is of interest to Barcelona, so it seemed like Manchester City were picked to play the role of competition, with the Pep Guardiola link obviously helping.
It all drifted away, but Barcelona remain linked and the Catalan press repeatedly talk up the possibility of a move. Now, West Brom and Leicester City have been dragged in, maybe as props.
Catalan newspaper Sport report that West Brom made a ‘firm’ €18m offer for the Palmeiras player in January. We’ve looked through the records and can’t find anything from the time relating to this West Brom approach.
Leicester City, meanwhile, made a €30m ‘survey’, so a less than concrete approach, but there’s nothing really to back this up either.
Mina is said to have snubbed both West Brom and Leicester because his desire was to continue developing in Brazil. Sport expect West Brom and Leicester to return for the player during the summer window.
Barcelona, according to the Catalan claims, can sign Yerry Mina for a preferential €9m clause.
