Spanish newspaper Sport keep dipping their toe in the West Brom manager pool, and it usually involves mentioning Oscar Garcia.
Sport is a newspaper of the Catalan variety in Spain, and with Garcia being from Catalonia and having a Barcelona past, there’s a heightened interest in the manager.
Garcia would bring a whole new kind of football to West Brom, but given he’s just walked out of Saint Etienne because they weren’t matching his plans for the future, he may be too big a change at the Hawthorns right now.
Sport throw Ronald Koeman in there too, saying the former Everton manager is also on the club’s shortlist, but similar would go for the Dutchman, although he has shown himself to be more pragmatic, at both Southampton and Everton.
Technical director Nicky Hammond will shortly inform West Brom’s owners of the choice made, with Sport believing the ex Barca pair have a chance.
Interestingly, Garcia isn’t being heavily pushed by Sport, just covered, and if it were true he’s pushing to get the West Brom job, as has been claimed in England, then it would be the Catalan press doing the pushing for him.
They have before and there’s good connections between the manager and his home media.
