West Brom defender Jonas Olsson has told the Swedish media this is likely to be his last season at the club. The Swede has just six months left on his contract with the Premier League side, and can leave on a free transfer in the summer.
Speaking to HD.se, Olsson was asked about his future at West Brom, given his contract situation.
The former Sweden international said his time in England looks to be close to an end, and he feels privileged he’s played in the Premier League for so many years. Olsson revealed he’s always had a fondness for Italian football, and would like to have that opportunity when he becomes a free agent.
“There is a big chance that this is my last year in England. I’m at the point were I can enjoy the moment and realise how privileged I’ve been playing in the best league for nine years. It is a rare luxury.
“I’ve always had a weakness for Italian football, I’d love to play a year there. But maybe I can pick and choose, I do not know. I have not been on the market a lot, I’ve never really been a free agent,” said the West Brom star.
Olsson has spent eight seasons at West Brom after joining the club from Dutch side NEC in 2008. However, the 33-year-old has seen himself reduced to four starts this season by West Brom manager Tony Pulis, and it seems he’s in the final months of his long stay at the Hawthorns.
